Time is running out on Symantec at NCSU!

For the last several months, you've been hearing about the change in the antivirus software that NCSU supports.

The NCSU Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be ending support for Symantec antivirus products on June 22. All NCSU-provided Symantec antivirus products should be uninstalled by that date.

Now is the time to update your remaining computers to Trend Micro OfficeScan for Windows, or Intego VirusBarrier for Mac OS X. After June 22, workstations will increasingly be at risk for virus infection, since their antivirus definitions will cease updating.

Because NCSU's license for Symantec products will expire prior to the end of the fiscal year, OIT will take the campus Symantec parent servers offline on June 22. Existing Symantec clients will begin complaining about virus definitions being out of date 30 days after the last time an antivirus client checks in with the parent server.

We encourage remaining NCSU Symantec users to upgrade to NCSU's new antivirus products: Trend Micro OfficeScan 8 for Windows, and Intego VirusBarrier X5 for Mac OS X.

Client downloads and further details are available on the NCSU Antivirus Resources website: http://www.ncsu.edu/antivirus
