Gmail tips

Here are some searching tips for those who are using the web interface for Gmail.

In the Gmail search box, add the following to your search terms to narrow it down even more.  Or just use these by themselves to see all the mail that meets the criteria.

Here are some of my favorites:
after:2011-05-01 (note yyyy-mm-dd format)
before:2011-05-01

is:starred
is:unread

in:trash
in:drafts
in:inbox

from:portion of email address, name or portion
subject:portion of message subject
label:insert your label here

"a phrase" (enclose a phrase between quotes)

has:attachment

Use the hypen to exclude terms or operator, e.g. -in:inbox to exclude messages in the inbox or -from:john to exclude messages from all Johns.
